When it comes to public relations there are different responsibilities that come along with this. I will be going over some of these different responsibilities that the public relations have.
The first would be earned media and media relations. With earned media, this is where you receive publicity that is not paid for. An example of this would be a new article that was written or making it on the news.

Media relations can be broken up into 4 p’s. Product, price, place, and promotion. This is focused on consumers.
Owned media and content strategy is another piece of the many responsibilities of a public relations worker. Owned media are things like your company’s blog, emails, your social media, etc. The PR team will work with writers and editors to strategize the content they are putting out.

Something that is really important when it comes to PR is community relations. Businesses contribute to the community and leads to a relationship with the locals to build a good standing with them. Because of these relationships, PR professionals are able to be more proactive in bringing positivity to the community.
To continue, reputation management is a part of PR where they look at how people see their companies’ brand. Knowing how people see them, the PR team can work to bring a positive view towards their brand and ensure the reputation of the company.

When working in public relations, you need to stay on top of the trends going on in the media. Having your company’s content be up to date and aligned with trends can help the brand be seen more as relatable and in a more positive light.
To finish off, a public relations worker/team deals with is crisis communications. When an issue arises and the reputation of the brand is in question, it is the PR manager who is in charge of keeping the company safe. It’s like a seatbelt protecting you when the airbag goes off. It’s important to make sure your company is receiving good media not the bad.
